Honestly I wasn’t sure how the premise of this one was going to work, but it does better than expected. A girl tries to impress her senpai with her acting skills, taking on the role of several archetypes so he can have a harem. In reality she has a big crush on him, with her roles allowing her to communicate that feeling, though sometimes her real self shows. It’s a pretty cute show, watching their interactions and seeing them fluster each other in different ways.
Each bit is pretty short, and in the half hour format this sometimes felt a little off. Nichijou was probably originally written in a similar format, so clearly it can be adapted well, but I don’t think they always pulled it off smoothly here. I think as the season progressed it got better, or simply the quality of the actual dialogue and “skits” made it easy to ignore compared to when first getting into the show.
The show is complete, with a finale that manages to hit the emotions just right while not abandoning the comedic elements that made this show so great to begin with. The unique format sets this anime apart, and I looked forward to each new episode. So all that being said, I can give this my highest rating.
