Now while playing catch up on the summer season I was seeing at least some things related to this show, but I really didn’t know what to expect. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the weirdly high quality animation. I would say it compared more to a movie rather than a TV show, so clearly someone is putting big money behind this.
The first episode, maybe even the first few minutes, is perhaps one of the strongest intros to a show as Nukumizu witnesses popular classmate Anna get rejected. This sets him down the path of meeting other losing heroines, Lemon and Komari, who soon join the ranks of losing heroine. All of the girls have personalities that make them likeable in different ways, and even if you have a favorite you’ll probably like all of them. There’s plenty of humor to be found in the actions of not just our main cast but some of the eccentric side characters. Nukumizu also has many good comments, and the title screen at the end of every episode might just deliver one last comedic punch.
I do need to take a moment to say the OP is very good, unlike most shows I did not skip this one. The ED also changes a few times in the season as the episodes change which heroine is the focus. I can’t say I remember the songs, but it’s a nice touch that once again makes you question the budget on the show.
The final episode of the season is actually an anime original written by the novel author. It’s a fun episode, but I will say that in my opinion it basically gives us the ending of the series while still leaving the anime open to get more episodes. This way even if you never pick up the novels (or manga adaptation) you’ll get closure, without it feeling so definite that it’s not worth watching more. And I certainly hope there’s more, this was one of my favorite shows this season and it is an easy recommendation to make.
