Season 2 of Dandadan manages to finally resolve the cliffhanger that season 1 left us on. However, we see this in fact become the new trend throughout the show. Every episode ends on some sort of cliffhanger, ranging in seriousness. An episode that wraps up an arc does it often in the first half, with the second half then setting something new up and leaving you wanting more.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it makes coming back to the show every week feel incredibly worthwhile. Not only that, in this second season the show has really come to prove itself. Season 1 was already very good, appealing to the romcom enjoyer in me while also delivering for those shonen action fans. This second season delivers more excellent work from studio Science Saru as they take the source manga panels and bring them to the next level for both our awkward first romance scenes as well as the fights. While I haven’t read much of the manga the comparisons I’ve seen show that the team clearly understand what they’re doing.

I already said for the first season that this was the show I looked forward to most each week. Facing stiffer competition from the stacked Summer 2025 lineup, this still held up even if I’m not sure I can give it the title. Regardless, if you’ve been itching for a new show I think the second season has managed to elevate this, and with that it also comes with my highest rating.
