Ah, another entry in the long line of “isekai but the main character is evil or a bad guy or whatever the fuck.” Except I’ve read the light novel for this one so I’m actually giving it a chance. Woo.
Overlord definitely turned me off from this genre and I can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed the “trapped in a game” genre too much, but this one somehow kept me interested. Despite being an “evil” civilization, the characters aren’t annoyingly despicable and act mostly within reason. They build up their evil acts gradually and in response to the challenges they face, which makes for a fairly compelling story. The world Mr. MC Man is brought to is fairly interesting too. It’s a strange complicated mix of things and it’s quite fun to see it all slowly reveal its secrets without giving out too many advantages to the isekai’d guy to know what’s going on. I think it’s worth a shot and I’m still reading the light novels so I can vouch for it even past what the anime covers.
Oh, I do realize I didn’t talk about the show itself much so I’ll add in something for that at the end here. The OP was kind of shit and gave away too much. It definitely spoils some minor twist that happens this season so make sure you skip it if you care about that.
