This anime sets out to prove that harems aren’t just for the straights, lesbians can have them too. Renako is a very introverted girl who decides to change herself into a social butterfly upon entering high school. She does this by getting close to the school idol Mai and her friends. However, soon she receives a confession from Mai and everything is thrown into chaos.
You see, despite every episode providing a lot of evidence to the contrary, Renako denies wanting to date girls. She insists that she simply wants to be friends and even writes off many things as just being between friends. Each little arc of four episodes has her pairing off with another member of the group and going through more or less the same events with each. These two things provide us with 1) the comedy of girl lover Renako vehemently denying she likes girls and 2) a bit of a repetitive structure, that even when faced with the best option (imo) makes the show grow old.
While I thought the show had many good elements, like decent animation and a fun premise, I slowly found myself souring on it. I did end up watching the entire season to see how they would deal with Renako and who I think she should date, but really there wasn’t much of interest going on by the time we got there. There has been a sequel of five episodes announced that will deal with the last girl and maybe a little more, but I don’t think I’ll be watching.
