It’s time for more cosplays as Gojo and Marin continue their partnership and grow closer together.
Biggest change from season 1 is toning down the fan service. While until my rewatch I had forgotten how much is present in the first season, the second largely avoids it outside of the first episode. Another change from the first season is just the animation quality. Everything has been turned up, leading to some absolutely amazing single frames and just whole sequences. CloverWorks truly showing off their skills with this one.
Season 1 was also largely just Gojo and Marin, but now we finally get to meet some of Marin’s friends more properly as well as her colleagues, and their classmates also get names and contribute. This is great, as while a great main couple is key to a romance to step up you need to bring in other elements and people. No side romances in sight in this season, but bringing in other people is especially great for Gojo’s confidence. While before he tried to hide away his passions and skills, now they play a key part in his class as he uses them to help out in the culture festival.
We also continue to meet more cosplayers and learn more about cosplaying techniques and skills. This is something that I think 2.5 Dimensional Seduction did better than season 1 of My Dress-Up Darling, to it’s nice to see the other key part of this show dive a bit more into the details now that the leads are pretty well established.
If you have been watching, this second season brings the show up a level with the new characters, plot elements, and animation. If you haven’t been watching, don’t be deceived by appearance. While the first season and this one do have some fan service, this is actually one of the more wholesome romcoms to watch.
