This is gonna be a review for both the first and second season of Wind Breaker cause, honestly, I was totally sleeping on this show until now.

Apologies for any women in the crowd but this was really a peak Bro show. And I did mean to capitalize the Bro. It’s about dudes being manly as hell and fighting with their fists. They fight for the justice, and the weak and, and, and then they talk about their feelings and overcome their hardships…. like real men. I’m joking with the delivery here but not at all about the content. The show focuses a lot on personal growth and helping each other overcome individual struggles as its main themes to the point where it’s an oddly “feel good” show for how much of the rest of it is spent on some of the coolest street fight action scenes I’ve ever seen. For real, the fight choreography and animations are incredible and the sound work for each punch made you really feel the impacts. Oh yeah, the opening for season one is also incredibly solid. I always say that good shows have good openings, and this one could have carried me through anything. I swear some of the characters look so badass in the opening I was a fan before I even met them.
On a (slightly) more serious note, I’m genuinely surprised with how much I enjoyed this show. It’s not without its flaws, like the split between the seasons being weird AGAIN, but it’s a solid watch and I will totally be forcing Michael to watch it at some point. Also, bonus points for having a solid pro-trans part of the story that really felt like it fit in with the theme of the show. During pride month too, even more bonus points.
