Summer Time Rendering

This is an anime that I think went a little overlooked due to it only releasing on Hulu and then only dubbed, with the former being a bigger reason. I think that’s a shame, as it’s pretty good. The story revolves around Shinpei, who learns that people on his home island are being copied and replaced by shadows. He finds himself in a time loop trying to save those he cares about. I was expecting more of a mystery, like Erased, when I picked this up. While there is knowledge to be gained in the loops and I’ll leave that to you to discover, it’s overall more just fantasy with clever thinking backed by fights. Don’t expect the fights to be what you come for though, this isn’t a battle shonen.

The dub is not the best. It’s not bad, but some pronunciation choices just feel out of place. Perhaps it’s just poor localization, maybe it’s because I’ve been primarily watching subs and going back now is weird. I will also note that there’s some fan service moments, some of which serve the plot but could have been replaced with less horny situations that achieve the same purpose.
