Watched: Sub
Covers: Season 1
Going into this anime I was a little unsure how I would feel about it because I have watched 0 sports anime and this certainly seemed like it’d be a mix of that and romance. I think I was right, but it wasn’t a detriment, so maybe I’ll give a sports anime a shot in the future. Before we get into it, our cast consists of Taiki, a badminton player who is overly positive as expected, who has a crush on Chinatsu, who is the star of the girls basketball team at his school. Obligatory childhood friend type is Hina, who does rhythm gymnastics, and the occasionally present guy friend is Kyo, you can forget about him, I’m not even entirely sure that’s his name.
Taiki convinces Chinatsu to not transfer schools, and since apparently their moms played for the basketball team together she ends up moving in with his family. They get closer, encouraging and pushing each other in their respective sports. Taiki is in his head about everything, Chinatsu doesn’t know her own feelings, neither does Hina for a long time. Ultimately there’s nothing here you can’t find elsewhere, but something about the show just feels worse? Maybe I’m just over indecisive characters who can’t pursue what they want, but it also feels like things started stalling for a good portion in the middle. I watched the whole season so I guess it wasn’t the worst thing to come out this fall, but at the same time I have no desire to continue. The sports side doesn’t feel like it’s deep enough to get invested, and the romance is stuck, barely ever being present in the first place.
Edit: I learned this is actually running for two cours. I will not be continuing though.
